Job 30:1Sefaria

A sudden reversal of fortune brings not only physical pain and devastating loss but also profound social humiliation. A man who once commanded absolute respect from the leaders of the land can suddenly find himself at the very bottom of society, subjected to the scorn of the most lowly individuals. For Job, this loss of dignity and the cruel joy of his enemies actually cause a deeper, more piercing sadness than the destruction of his wealth, the tragic death of his children, and his own physical agony [רמב״ן].

The primary approach among commentators highlights the harsh contrast between Job's glorious past and his current degraded state. In earlier days, elders and men of great age would stand in quiet reverence when he approached [מלבי״ם]. Now, however, he is met with open laughter and relentless mockery

Adding to the sting of this humiliation is the identity of those who now laugh at him. They are young men, entirely inferior to him in both age and social standing To capture the absolute loss of his honor and the extreme lowliness of his current tormentors [תקות אנוש], Job recalls their fathers. These were men of such poor character and low status that Job refused to trust them even with the basic task of sitting alongside his sheepdogs to guard his flocks Because of this past rejection, these young men now seize the opportunity to mock Job, using his tragic downfall as a moment of revenge for the time he turned their fathers away [מלבי״ם].
