The destruction of the Temple brought about the tragic looting of the many copper vessels once dedicated to holy service. The Chaldean army systematically stripped the sanctuary, claiming all of this sacred spoil for themselves [מלבי״ם].

The plundered items included a wide variety of tools essential to the daily operations of the sanctuary. Among the stolen goods were the large pots and cauldrons, as well as the brooms and shovels specifically designed to sweep and clear away the ashes [מצודת ציון]. The invaders also carried off the musical instruments that once accompanied the Temple service. Additionally, they took the sacred basins [מצודת ציון] that were used to collect and sprinkle blood [ביאור שטיינזלץ], along with the smaller pans and ladles [מצודת ציון].

Ultimately, the looted items encompassed all the dedicated implements that were uniquely crafted for the regular, ongoing work and service within the Temple [מצודת דוד, ביאור שטיינזלץ].
