A deep observation of creation reveals the divine wisdom that drives the entire universe. Calling upon the soul to bless God is a deliberate choice, because out of all earthly creations, only the intelligent human soul has the capacity to truly recognize and bless its Creator [רד״ק]. This act of blessing contains a deep mystery. The soul offers thanks and praise to God, even though He is infinitely exalted above any human words or praise [אבן עזרא].
God is the primary cause and ultimate purpose of all reality [מלבי״ם]. In His inner essence, He remains completely hidden and beyond human understanding [מלבי״ם, מאירי]. Yet, His true greatness is shown exactly through His involvement with the physical universe. Despite His infinite, spiritual nature, He chose to create and watch over a lowly, material world [אלשיך]. Before the world existed, God was great in Himself, but through the act of creation, His greatness became visible and known to everything He made [מאירי].
To explain how the infinite Creator interacts with a physical world, all of creation can be viewed as a type of clothing worn by God [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. This concept of a divine garment serves two complementary purposes. On one hand, it acts as a means of concealment. Just as normal clothes hide the body of the person wearing them, the overwhelming majesty of God blinds the human mind, preventing it from grasping His true essence [אבן עזרא, מאירי]. On the other hand, the garment is a tool for revelation. Just as a commoner can recognize a king by his magnificent royal robes, human beings can recognize God's immense power and glory by looking at the splendor of nature and the heavens [רד״ק, מאירי].
On a deeper level, this divine clothing functions as a protective screen that makes the existence of the world possible. If the physical world were exposed to the raw, infinite light of God, it would be completely wiped out. To prevent this, God formed a system of spiritual worlds that act as protective layers. They work much like dark glass, which allows a person to look safely at the sun without being blinded [אלשיך, מלבי״ם]. This protective majesty is divided into two distinct layers. The inner, more hidden layer represents the source of divine energy and the heavenly throne. The outer, more visible layer consists of the angels and the physical universe we experience, and it is through this outer layer that God ultimately reveals Himself to all of creation [אלשיך, מלבי״ם].
