II Kings 6:8Sefaria

The ongoing hostility between the nations of Aram and Israel sets the stage for a series of miracles that highlight Divine providence and the extraordinary abilities of the prophet Elisha. Rather than engaging in large-scale, frontal battles, the king of Aram initiated a series of periodic, targeted raids and tactical ambushes [ביאור שטיינזלץ].

His strategy was to consult with his advisors and quietly position his forces in a concealed location, hoping to trap the king of Israel or his passing troops These ambush sites were often established in downward slopes where the army could set up camp entirely undetected

To ensure the success of these traps, the operations were shrouded in absolute secrecy. The exact locations of the ambushes were kept completely hidden and were deliberately left unnamed and unspoken of among the ranks, guaranteeing that no military intelligence could possibly leak to the Israelites

Ultimately, this extreme level of military secrecy served only to amplify the subsequent miracles. Precisely because the locations of the traps were so heavily guarded and concealed, Elisha's greatness became undeniable. The spirit of God rested upon him constantly, enabling him to repeatedly uncover the king of Aram's most deeply guarded secrets and warn the king of Israel long before any harm could occur [מלבי״ם, אברבנאל].
