A vision of total ruin paints an extreme picture of a landscape completely stripped of its inhabitants and all forms of life. The absolute absence of humanity reflects a new reality where not a single person remains. This vast emptiness is the direct result of mass exile, as the entire population was forced out [מצודת דוד]. Specifically, this complete removal refers to the Israelites who once lived in the land [רד״ק].

The devastation runs so deep that even the wildlife has abandoned the area. The birds of the sky have taken flight and migrated away from the region, driven out by the overwhelming scale of the ruin [מצודת דוד]. They fled because the destroyed environment was entirely emptied of any remaining food sources, leaving absolutely nothing to sustain them [ביאור שטיינזלץ].
