Daniel 6:10Sefaria

A monarch's desire to secure his throne can often cloud his judgment, leading to hasty decisions. The signing of the royal decree was driven entirely by political motives and the ruler's deep-seated need to cement his authority. The royal ministers strategically presented the new law as an essential measure to strengthen the monarchy and ensure national stability. Swayed by this framing, the king proceeded to sign the written decree. Had the ministers not disguised their request as a matter of national security, the king would likely have paused to investigate their true underlying motives

Darius was in a highly sensitive and vulnerable position. As a newly established ruler from a foreign nation, he lived with a constant underlying fear that his government might be overthrown. It was this intense personal anxiety over his royal status that ultimately tipped the scales. Driven by insecurity, he personally wrote and signed the decree immediately, completely bypassing any normal process of inquiry or investigation
