דניאל, פרק ג׳, פסוק ל׳

Daniel 3:30Sefaria

בֵּאדַ֣יִן מַלְכָּ֗א הַצְלַ֛ח לְשַׁדְרַ֥ךְ מֵישַׁ֛ךְ וַעֲבֵ֥ד נְג֖וֹ בִּמְדִינַ֥ת בָּבֶֽל׃ {פ}

Following a miraculous rescue where devoted men risked their lives to honor God, the royal response reaches an unexpected climax. Rather than facing punishment, they are granted unprecedented honor and authority. The king greatly improves their standing, elevating them to positions of vast governmental power across the province. This remarkable promotion is a direct result of the miracle they experienced due to their unwavering commitment to fulfilling God's will [יוסף אבן יחיא, ביאור שטיינזלץ].

Defying a monarch's explicit orders typically results in severe consequences. Yet, not only does the king refrain from stripping these men of their former rank, but he also raises them to a status far exceeding what they previously held [מלבי״ם].

This royal reaction reveals a profound layer of sincerity. It would be easy to assume that a ruler publicly defied would feel deeply humiliated. One might suspect that his sudden praise for God and these three men was mere lip service, masking a lingering, secret resentment. However, the immediate timing of their promotion disproves this suspicion. The king elevates them to top leadership roles in Babylon instantly, without a moment's delay. Promoting individuals who seemingly embarrassed him in public serves as undeniable proof that his outward words perfectly match his inner convictions. He genuinely recognizes the immense greatness of God and the pure devotion of His servants, as no absolute ruler would hand over such vast political power simply to disguise a hidden anger [אלשיך].
