I Kings 20:13Sefaria

During a time of severe distress and high tension, King Ahab stands against a massive enemy force. Suddenly, a prophet steps forward to speak with him. His very appearance proves that prophets still remain in Israel. Recognizing the seriousness of the crisis, the prophet knows he has no reason to fear the king and approaches him with total confidence [ביאור שטיינזלץ]. Drawing on early traditions, commentators widely agree that this prophet is Micaiah son of Imlah

The prophet challenges Ahab, asking if he has truly grasped the overwhelming size of the opposing army This question is not just a simple observation of the battlefield, but a deep lesson in faith. God deliberately highlights the enemy's massive numbers to make it clear that a natural victory is impossible. The general rule is that as long as a person believes he can win through his own strength, he does not look for God's help, and therefore God does not intervene with a miracle. It is precisely because a natural victory is out of the question that God promises to step in and perform a miracle [מלבי״ם].

Despite the Israelites being severely outnumbered, God guarantees that He will hand the enemy over to them that very day. The purpose of this miraculous rescue is to prevent the Israelites from boasting about their own bravery. It proves to them that nothing can stop God from saving His people, whether He uses a mighty army or just a few individuals [אברבנאל]. Ultimately, the direct result of this victory will be the king's absolute recognition of God's power and His active oversight in the world [מלבי״ם].
