When a leather bag is hung in a smoky environment, it gradually shrinks, blackens, and dries out. Despite this agonizing deterioration, where he feels as though he is shrinking and cracking under the weight of his hardship, he remains steadfast in his commitment to God. There is a deep significance to his specific focus on divine laws that lack an obvious rational explanation. In the midst of his agony, the poet relies completely on God, accepting his painful circumstances with pure faith, even without understanding the reason for his suffering.
