Psalms 119:30Sefaria

A conscious and absolute decision to pursue truth and faith naturally distances a person from falsehood and injustice. Choosing the path of faith is the complete opposite of living a life of deception, representing an existence completely free from wrongdoing This commitment goes beyond merely avoiding lies; it forms a profound worldview. It is the deep-seated ability to trust in Divine justice even when the world appears unfair, driven by the understanding that true reward and punishment are reserved for the afterlife [מלבי״ם]. Furthermore, this path relies on truth passed down through tradition, which serves as an anchor, protecting a person from being misled by false conclusions during intellectual searching [מאירי]. On an allegorical level, this faith is compared to the agricultural laws, where a person must demonstrate complete trust in God to make crops grow [אלשיך].

Flowing from this choice of faith is a deep commitment to God's laws and judgments. The primary approach among commentators is that this commitment involves constantly placing God's laws right in front of one's eyes. By keeping them as visible and accessible as items arranged on a set table, a person ensures they will follow them and never forget them. Within this framework, these judgments specifically point to a meticulous focus on civil laws involving money and damages

Another perspective emphasizes the fairness inherent in these laws. A person devoted to this path views God's instructions as perfectly straight and fair, carefully applying equal justice without any bias or distortion Finally, the path of faith allows a person to properly evaluate and compare life's experiences. By weighing the hardships of this world against the rewards of the next, a person comes to realize that times of suffering and times of peace are fundamentally equal. Both serve a positive purpose, revealing that His judgment is perfectly balanced, true, and just [מלבי״ם].
